Novo Continues to Expand to Meet High Demand for Its Unique Recruiting Solutions
St. Louis (May 15, 2012) – The Novo Group, a fast-growing managed recruitment services firm, announced today that it has opened an office in St. Louis, Missouri. Steve Williams, a veteran in the human capital industry, has joined the company as Business Development Director and will be responsible for growing and cultivating client relationships within St. Louis and surrounding areas.
“Opening up an office in St. Louis was a natural choice given the robust large middle-market companies and need for strong technology talent,” said Cindy Lu, president and CEO of The Novo Group. “The addition of Williams and the opening of the St. Louis office continues to allow Novo to expand its services and provide new opportunities for businesses located in the mid-west.”
Having worked with numerous Fortune 1000 companies in St. Louis, Williams brings invaluable market knowledge and experience that will help Novo continue to expand business relationships. In addition to his strong track record for building and managing new business initiatives, Williams has over 14 years of experience in working with HR leaders and helping them transform their departments into a strategic resource.
“Novo has a unique recruiting model driven by its understanding that in order to attract and retain top talent, clients need proactive strategies and processes along with world class recruiters who work with them every step of the way,” said Williams. “I am excited to work with such a collaborative and innovative company.”
Over the past nine years, The Novo Group has been transforming corporate recruiting with offices in Milwaukee and Chicago, serving clients nationwide. And now, Novo brings its innovative business model to St. Louis. Novo provides a unique alternative to traditional 3rd party recruiters and search firms through its best-in-class search process that delivers, on average, more qualified candidates at half the cost of contingent and retained search firms.
While some organizations have the resources to hire recruiters who are dedicated to talent acquisition, according to a recent Novo survey of 100 HR leaders, over 80% still outsource some portion of their recruitment function. Not surprisingly, Novo has been growing quickly, having experienced 67% growth last year as more companies continued to turn to Novo for flexible, scalable recruiting with a unique, hourly pricing model that transforms recruitment into an easily manageable operating expense. In 2011, Novo recruiters filled over 500 professional positions at an average cost per hire of only 11% and 50% were passive candidates.

Novo Receives Prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility
Milwaukee, WI (October 18, 2011) – For the third year in a row, The Novo Group has earned a national Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, ranking the firm among the top 20% of employers nationwide in terms of flexible work programs, policies and culture. The Sloan Award honors organizations that use workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase employee and business success and retain top talent.
The Novo Group, a managed recruitment outsourcing firm, has witnessed firsthand what a powerful tool workplace flexibility can be. Since implementing workplace flexibility options in 2008, the Novo Group has reduced employee turnover by over 20%, while increasing employee productivity by 28%.
One great example of how Novo’s workplace flexibility has helped the company retain top talent is employee Emily Ling. Emily joined Novo in 2006 to recruit IT professionals and was quickly recognized as a great asset to the company. When her husband accepted a job in San Francisco, Novo didn’t want to lose her. She continued to service a major client from a remote location. After Emily had her first child, Novo supported her with a flexible work schedule that was mutually beneficial for her growing family and her clients. Even while working remotely and on a flexible work schedule, Emily has remained one of Novo’s top-performing recruiters and has since been promoted into a director level role.
“I love working with Novo because I truly believe in our best-in-class recruiting model and am proud of the work that we do,” said Emily. “Novo has been extremely supportive throughout the various phases of my life, allowing me to achieve a work-life balance and providing me with the tools to grow my career.”
The Novo Group notes that when working on hard-to-fill positions, the clients who offer workplace flexibility options more successfully attract and retain top talent. As companies become global in their scope of services, suppliers, and products, the ability to interact with customers and clients all around the world requires a workforce that can operate flexibly in terms of hours and locations.
“More and more businesses that compete globally are embracing workplace flexibility options,” said Cindy Lu, president and CEO of The Novo Group. “Like Novo, they are finding that providing employees with flexible work options creates a team that works smarter and is more dedicated to the company and clients.”
The Novo Group will be recognized as a 2011 Sloan Award recipient, along with other companies including, Deloitte, KPMG, Microsoft and PricewaterhouseCoopers, at an upcoming celebration event on October 27th. The event will be hosted by FUEL Milwaukee.

This prestigious award, part of the national When Work Works project, recognizes employers of all sizes and types in theChicago area and across the country.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for our workplace practices,” said Cindy Lu, president and CEO of The Novo Group. “We value our employees and work hard to maintain a company culture of open communication, truth, respect and fairness. According to the Families and Work Institute (FWI), workplace flexibility—such as flextime, part-time work and compressed workweeks—has been demonstrated to help businesses remain competitive while benefiting employees as well.

In addition, they report lower stress levels and better overall health,” states Ellen Galinsky, president of Families and Work Institute (FWI), a research think tank on workforce and workplace trends that administers the awards.

“As a recipient of the 2011 Sloan Award, The Novo Group ranks in the top 20% of employers nationally in terms of its programs, policies and culture for creating an effective and flexible workplace,” states Galinsky. “In addition, what makes this honor so special is that their employees have corroborated this, affirming that it is indeed an effective and flexible workplace.”
